i can’t believe there are still people wondering why jonghyun did what he did just because “he’s talented and rich”. guess what, talent and money do not cure depression.
just because your idols may be smiling for the cameras and laughing on broadcasts, earning well and dressing well, does NOT mean they’re okay.
just because your idols don’t talk about their struggles or break down in front of you, does NOT mean they’re okay.
people can portray themselves to be happy and perfectly alright, even if they’re battling their own demons every single day. this is why it is so important to be kind, and to reach out to anyone you think may be having a hard time, or simply talk to your trusted loved ones about your feelings.
i sincerely hope this feels like a slap across the face to people who still think mental illness is a joke, because your seemingly unharmful words can end someone’s life. your insensitive words can end someone’s life.

For all the people who didn’t know him… Jonghyun was everything you could wish for in and idol and more. Beyond his talent, no one could talk to him without gushing about what a good person he was. He was just that lovable and kind. Jonghyun was always outspoken about mental health, lgbtq rights, and inequality. He was always the first one to cry, but he was also always the first one to laugh. He poured his soul into composing and writing music. He suffered from insomnia, but always gave 100% energy on the stage. He liked silly jokes, ballads, and staying indoors. He had one of those voices that could make you cry just by listening to it. He was so kind, gentle, open, and talented. His life was short, but I won’t ever be able to forget him.
